Our Ultimate List of Destination Wedding Activities

We love destination weddings because they bring all your favorite people together in a wonderful location. They also give you and your guests an opportunity for an often much-needed vacation, so it's only right to plan other activities to extend the celebration! Here's our ultimate list of enjoyable pre- and post-wedding day activities for your destination wedding.

Pre-Wedding Activities

A Themed Welcome Party - If most of your guests are coming from out of town, a welcome party is a great idea. It may seem unoriginal, but there is no better way to introduce guests before your celebration. You could even throw this event in place of a traditional rehearsal dinner.

Schedule a Spa Day - A spa day is a wonderful way to pamper guests after all of the travel to your destination wedding. Massages, relaxing body treatments, and beauty treatments are a great way to bond with your bridal party members.

Sweating for The Wedding Group Workout - Get your guests lively and active the day before your wedding with a group workout. Not only is it a super fun way to release some feel-good hormones, but it'll also put everyone in a fabulous mood for your celebration. Depending on where your wedding is, you could attend a class like SoulCycle or do some yoga on the beach. Add some extra fun with matching outfits or a theme!

We love these cute “Sweating for the Wedding” shirts on Etsy. Make your event even more fun by providing guests with custom shirts.

Take a Cooking Class - A cooking class is an amazing activity to immerse you and your guests in the culture of your chosen location. Schedule a lesson where you and your guests can learn how to make local flavors and cuisines. Many years later, guests will always remember your wedding as the place where they picked up a unique recipe.

Wine Tasting or Mixology Class - Invite your guest to join you for a wine tasting or mixology class. It’s a great chance to sample drinks available at the resort and to get to know other guests.

Group Surfing/Paddle boarding Lessons - Surfing, kayaking, and paddle boarding are all low-cost but really fun pre-wedding activities. Most destinations will have easy introductory classes that you can sign up for and enjoy learning a new skill and having some fun on the water with your family and friends!

Catamaran Tour - Are you having your destination wedding at a tropical location? How about taking the opportunity to enjoy views of the abundant sea life with your guests? A catamaran tour will allow everyone to see the beautiful waters up close and enjoy the scenery.

Have guests join you for a sunset sailing or snorkeling cruise. It’s a great way to see your destination and spend quality time with your destination wedding guests.

I Do BBQ - A pre-wedding barbecue with guests on your wedding eve is a perfect opportunity to relax. It's a sure way to kill the pre-wedding nerves and take a break from wedding formalities. Barbecues are always a success with guests; everyone can chill in a casual and fun setting.

Scavenger Hunt - Scavenger hunts are a great way to get guests to mingle and explore your destination wedding location. How about planning one as the ending to your rehearsal dinner or welcome party? Guests can search the various corners of your location, and then you can all meet up for celebratory drinks and snacks at the end.

Wedding Morning Beach Yoga - Your guests will love a low-key yoga session on the morning of your wedding. It's a great way to start everyone's day and the beach can accommodate so many people. Plus, everyone can enjoy the morning breeze and views!

Post-Wedding Activities

Midnight Pool Party - What’s not to love about having a midnight pool party to round up your celebration? Blow up some fun pool floats, set up the bar, and have your wedding DJ keep the party going.

Recovery Pool Party - If an after-pool party is too much for you, how about a pool party the next day? This one can be low-key with soft music and more lounging and relaxing. It’s a perfect way to say goodbye to guests before you jet off on your honeymoon.

One of our favorite destination wedding resorts, UNICO 20°87°, has the perfect pool for a recovery pool party! As guests to meet you by the pool the day after you say “I do”.

"First Brew Since I Do" brewery tour - This is a fabulous idea if you're in a location where distillery or brewery tours are an option. Your guests will enjoy this fun opportunity to see the city in a new light. Guests can try new beers and learn about the brewery process. It's also a chance for everyone to learn what they like best in an alcoholic beverage.

Post-Wedding Brunch - A morning after brunch is a time for your guests to gather one final time before leaving. It's also a wonderful time for the newlyweds to spend more quality time with their guests. Since the reception has a lot going on, it's difficult to have meaningful conversations with everyone you invited. Plus, who doesn't love brunch?
