HONEYMOON IN ST. LUCIA

Honeymoon date: November 2022

Travel advisor: Andrea Norfolk

Destination: St. Lucia

Resort: Sandals Grande St. Lucian

Number of nights: 7

Why did you choose your resort & destination for your honeymoon?
Believe it or not, Saint Lucia was not our original plan! Andrea sent us a list of fabulous destinations to choose from and we settled on the Dominican Republic! We have been to Mexico a few times and although we love it there, we really wanted the Caribbean for our honeymoon and chose a beautiful Spanish colonial resort in Cap Cana.

Turns out Hurricane Fiona had other plans for us, making landfall directly on the shores of Punta Cana and severely damaging our beautiful resort a mere six weeks before our scheduled departure. With our resort now closed into the new year for repairs, along with many of the resorts on the island, we had no other option but to choose another destination.

After looking through our new options, we landed on Sandals Grande St. Lucian the stunning Saint Lucia! We were immediately attracted to the natural beauty of the island with turquoise waters, rainforests, and towering Pitons (mountains). It was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined.

What activities or excursions did you do on your honeymoon?
Our favorite excursion was the Fun to See Island Ferry that took us from the airport to our resort. After a very long day of traveling, it was the absolute best way to start our trip. We sailed along the coast of the island and got the most incredible views of the Pitons. The crew was amazing and kept the music, beers and snacks flowing! They are also skilled at taking fabulous pictures!

What was the most memorable moment of your honeymoon?
A favorite moment that sticks out to me is when we were sitting on the terrace overlooking the resort grounds, all dressed up in resort-formal waiting for our dinner reservation. It was sprinkling a little, a saxophonist was playing, and we had glasses of champagne in our hands.

What were the top 3 things you did on your honeymoon?
We decided to rent a cabana for a day and it was a lot of fun! The Caribbean sun is no joke, so it was nice to have a shaded spot to come back to after frolicking in the ocean. It also came with butler service, so we never spent even a second without a fresh drink in our hands! We also decided to take advantage of the spa and get a couples massage on our first full day there. We got hit (literally our first ever car accident!) the day before leaving for our honeymoon, so a de-stressing massage was a must. We also loved the evening entertainment and really enjoyed the country singer and the variety show with fire breathers, singing and dancing on the main pool (yes that’s right not at the pool, literally ON the pool on giant floaties!)

What was your experience using Shoreline Destinations for planning your trip?
I literally do not know what we would have done without Andrea. Due to other circumstances and natural disasters beyond our control, we ended up having to change resorts in the DR three separate times. We must have exchanged over 100 emails!

In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Fiona, Andrea kept us updated and guided us through a very tragic and fluid situation. Her promptness and professionalism kept us calm in an otherwise stressful situation. When it became clear that the DR was just not going to happen for us, she went into overdrive and provided us with some great options. Though our options were obviously more limited than they were 7 months prior given the last minute nature, we could not have been any happier with where we ended up and had the honeymoon of a lifetime!
