First impression: This resort is absolutely gorgeous. The setting, nestled against the mountains, makes it feel unique and special from the moment you arrive.
Best for: Wedding guests who appreciate a stunning, nature-forward setting with a social, relaxed vibe and are comfortable with a laid-back island pace in exchange for a truly memorable experience.
Getting there: The drive from the airport is about 45 minutes to an hour and includes winding roads. If you are prone to motion sickness, sitting toward the front of the shuttle is a good idea, especially on the return trip.
Dining expectations: Restaurant service can be slower at times, so patience helps. Gatsu Gatsu is the standout for both service and food and is a great choice if you are planning a special dinner during the wedding weekend.
Reservations tip: Guests can pre-book one restaurant 30 days in advance through the Sandals app. If you forget, no stress. Reservations can also be handled through the concierge or butler once you arrive.
Evenings at the resort: The entertainment is excellent, with live music and a fun atmosphere that never feels over the top. The Rum Bar gets lively around 8 pm and is a great spot to casually connect with other wedding guests.
Pool chairs: Lounge chairs at the main pool fill up early, so plan to claim one by 9 am. Access to the infinity pool by the beach is more limited for non-butler guests, which is good to know ahead of time.
Getting around the property: The resort is spread out, but bikes are available and make exploring easy and fun.

Excursions - Sandals offers excursions off the resort which is a great way to explore this rural, untouched destination. I went to see Dark View Falls and toured the historical West Coast. The famous movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" at Wallilabou Bay, where Port Royal's harbor was brought to life. The Dark View waterfall offered a chance to cool off!
