Moon Palace The Grand – Punta Cana
DESTINATION WEDDINGS
Planning a destination wedding with a guest list that includes families with kids, couples traveling without them, golfers, nightlife lovers, and everyone in between? Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana is one of those rare resorts where you really don't have to choose.
This new family-friendly, all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic is BIG, but that's part of the appeal. Your guests can turn your wedding into a full vacation, with seemingly endless dining, pools, a water park, golf, kids and teen spaces, a casino, nightclub, adults-only pool, and plenty more to explore.
And after visiting the resort myself, I can tell you this: I left wanting to go back. I don't say that about every resort I visit! For couples who want a destination wedding where their guests will stay for more than a few days and actually have something for everyone, Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana is absolutely one I'd put on the list.
Facts AT A GLANCE
Location | Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Type | Family-Friendly, All-Inclusive Resort
Perfect For | Larger destination weddings with mixed-age guest lists and guests who want to turn the wedding into a full vacation
Overall Vibe | Big, upscale, activity-packed, and designed for guests who want plenty to do
Hi, I’m Andrea!
I've been helping couples plan destination weddings throughout Mexico and the Caribbean since 2013, and I've learned that the best resort isn't always the smallest, newest, or even the prettiest. I look at how a resort actually works for a wedding group: where your guests will stay, what they'll do between events, how easy it is to get around, and whether the wedding venues fit the celebration you're envisioning.
A NOTE FROM ME
Here's why Moon Palace The Grand might make my shortlist for your wedding:
✓ There really is something for everyone. Families have the water park, kids' spaces, and arcades, while adults can enjoy golf, an adults-only pool, casino, nightclub, and an incredible amount of dining.
✓ It's big without feeling quite so overwhelming. I much prefer the tower-style layout here to Moon Palace The Grand Cancun. Having restaurants, activities, and accommodations together means you're not constantly hopping on a shuttle just to get around.
✓ Your guests could easily make a full vacation out of it. I honestly think you could stay here for a week and still not experience every restaurant, activity, and amenity.
✓ It's especially good for larger weddings. Many of the wedding venues are designed for 80+ guests, so this is a resort I'd look at for couples planning a bigger celebration rather than an intimate, boutique-style wedding.

THE RESORT
So, What's It Actually Like?
Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana is a BIG resort, but once you're there, the layout makes a lot of sense. Rather than feeling like you're constantly traveling from one end of the property to another, the tower-style design keeps guest rooms, restaurants, and activities together. For a destination wedding group, I love this. Your guests can easily do their own thing during the day without every plan turning into a logistical production.
And there is a LOT to do. We're talking 20+ dining options, multiple pools, a water park, golf course, kids and teen spaces, arcades, spa, casino, nightclub, sports bar, and more. The beach sits away from the main hotel area with its own beach club, so even that feels like a completely different way to spend the day.
That's what I think works so well for a wedding group here. Your guests don't all need to vacation the same way. The families can hit the water park. Your golf crew can disappear for a round. Someone else can spend the day by the adults-only pool. And later, everyone can meet back up for dinner, drinks, or one of your wedding events.
If you're hoping your guests will come for your wedding and stay for a real vacation, this resort gives them plenty of reasons to do exactly that.

Wedding Venues
Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana was built with bigger celebrations in mind. There are a ton of venue options, including gazebos, terraces, ballrooms, and beach settings, but many of the spaces are designed to accommodate 80, 100, or even several hundred guests. If you're dreaming of a larger destination wedding, that gives us plenty to work with. If you're picturing an intimate 30-person celebration in a small, tucked-away venue, this probably isn't the resort I'd recommend for you.

ASK ANDREA
My Take on Moon Palace The grand Punta Cana:
If you came to me asking whether I'd recommend this resort, I'd tell you I left wanting to go back, and I don't say that about every resort I visit.
It's big, but the tower-style layout makes it much easier to navigate than Moon Palace The Grand Cancun, and I was genuinely impressed by the dining, design, nightlife, golf, and sheer amount there is to do. I'd recommend it most for a larger wedding with a mixed guest list, especially if your guests are likely to stay for a week and make a vacation out of the trip.
Would I choose it for an intimate 30-person wedding where you want a quiet, boutique feel? Probably not. But for a family-friendly wedding where you still want great nightlife and plenty for the adults without kids? This would be at the top of my list in the Dominican Republic!
THINK MOON PALACE THE GRAND COULD BE THE ONE?
Let’s Talk About Your Wedding.
A resort can look perfect online. But the right fit comes down to your guest list, budget, wedding vision, and the kind of experience you want everyone to have.
That’s where we come in. We’ll help you figure out if Moon Palace The Grand really checks your boxes, or if there’s another resort you should have on your radar.
ROOMS & SUITES
Where You’ll Stay
With more than 2,000 rooms, there are a LOT of options here, which is exactly what I like to see when we're building a destination wedding room block. Your guests can keep things simple with a golf or ocean-view room, families can spread out in larger family suites, and there are swim-up and upgraded suite options for guests who want to splurge a little. And yes, every room has a double Jacuzzi on the balcony!
One thing I wouldn't immediately write off? The golf-course view rooms. They're the lead-in category, but I thought the view was gorgeous. The course was in incredible condition when I visited, so this is one of those resorts where I'd be perfectly comfortable recommending the starting room category to wedding guests who don't care about paying extra for an ocean view. For families, there are also two-room family suites that can accommodate up to six guests, while couples looking for something special can consider an ocean-view swim-up or one of the larger suites.
For your wedding room block, we'll help you narrow all of this down. You don't need 15 room categories on your wedding website. We'll figure out which options actually make sense for your guests and which upgrade makes sense for the two of you!
LOVE THE RESORT?
HERE’S WHERE WE COME IN.
Finding a beautiful resort is the easy part. Turning it into a destination wedding that actually works for you and your guests? That’s where we come in.
→ We help you figure out if it’s actually the right fit. A gorgeous Instagram feed doesn’t tell you whether the room rates work for your guest list, the wedding venues fit your vision, or your group will actually enjoy spending four days here.
→ We handle the room block + guest travel. Contracts, room categories, deposits, deadlines, transfers, special requests, Aunt Linda’s flight question... you don’t need another full-time job just because you’re getting married.
→ We know what questions to ask before you sign. What happens if your guest count changes? Which rooms count toward your block? Are there minimum stays? What’s included in the wedding package and what will cost extra? We help you understand what you’re actually agreeing to.
→ And when your guests have questions? They come to us. You should be planning your wedding, not spending your lunch break explaining airport transfers in the group chat.

DINING & DRINKS
What’s on The Menu?
You could stay here for a week and still have restaurants left to try, which is exactly what I want for a wedding group staying several days. There’s a little bit of everything, from steakhouses and hibachi to Indian, Italian, Greek, Mexican, and casual late-night options. Nikos was a standout for me. Every dish I tried was flavorful, beautifully presented, and genuinely SO good. I also loved the self-serve ordering at Camino Street for those moments when you've just checked in, you're starving, and nobody wants to make a decision about where to eat.

THE GUEST EXPERIENCE
What will everyone do all week?
Your wedding may be the reason everyone is here, but your guests are also turning this into a vacation! And at Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana, I'd be shocked if anyone came home saying they ran out of things to do.
Pool + Beach Days
Guests have plenty of options for a do-nothing-by-the-water kind of day, including multiple pools and an adults-only pool for anyone looking for a quieter escape. What I really like, though, is that the beach is separate from the main hotel area. You can spend one day around the resort pools, then take the shuttle down and make an entirely different day out of the beach and beach club. It almost feels like getting two resort experiences in one.
Things to Do
This is where Moon Palace The Grand really earns its name. There's a water park, 18-hole Greg Norman-designed golf course, bowling, arcades, sports, daily activities, and plenty more to fill the days between wedding events. I was especially impressed by the golf clubhouse. The rentals and merchandise are top-notch, and the back deck overlooking the putting green and driving range is a great spot to grab food and a drink after a round.
Spa + Wellness
For guests who would rather spend their free afternoon at the spa than the water park, Awe Spa offers massages, facials, hydrotherapy and other treatments, plus there's a full fitness center for anyone determined to keep their routine going on vacation.
After Dark
This is a BIG selling point for me, especially for a family-friendly resort. Your adult guests aren't stuck calling it a night once the kids go to bed. There's a casino, sports bar, and Unique Nightclub, plus a private VIP room just off the club that feels almost like a hidden speakeasy. If I were here with a group of 10 to 15 friends, I would 100% look into renting that space for an evening. You're right in the middle of the nightlife, but you have your own place to hang out together.
Traveling With Kids?
Kids have a water park, Playroom Kids' Club, activities, and multiple arcades, including one right in the main lobby area. I love that parents don't have to trek all the way over to the kids' club every time their children want something fun to do. There's also a teen club and even a restaurant designed specifically for younger guests, so the family offerings here go well beyond simply saying “kids are welcome.”
