Alicia and Maurice recently exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony at Breathless Soul Cancun. It was an absolute delight to help make their dream destination wedding a reality!

How did you meet?
We met through a mutual friend, and what started as a simple introduction quickly turned into something special. Early in our relationship, we took on long distance, with one of us living in Seattle and the other in Chicago. For two years, we made the most of weekend visits, countless phone calls, and cross-country flights, which only strengthened our relationship and showed us that we were building something worth the distance.
After closing the distance, we got engaged and spent the next year planning our wedding together. That season was filled with excitement, anticipation, and so many meaningful moments leading up to our wedding day. Looking back, every mile, every visit, and every step of our journey brought us to the celebration we had always dreamed of.
Why did you choose to have a destination wedding?
We always knew we wanted our wedding to be more than just a single day of celebration. A destination wedding gave us the opportunity to turn it into an entire weekend surrounded by our favorite people, allowing us to spend meaningful time together and create memories that went far beyond the wedding day itself.
Why did you choose Breathless Soul Cancun as your resort?
After visiting the resort ourselves, we knew it was the perfect place to celebrate our wedding. We loved that it was adults-only and all-inclusive, creating a fun,
stress-free atmosphere where our guests could truly relax and enjoy themselves.
The beautiful setting, exceptional service, and variety of activities made it easy to plan a weekend that everyone would enjoy. It was the ideal backdrop for bringing our vision to life and gave our guests an experience that felt like both a vacation and a celebration of our love.
What was your most memorable moment during your ceremony?
The ceremony was filled with meaningful moments we'll never forget. Having my mom officiate made it incredibly personal, and reading our own vows allowed us to share heartfelt promises with one another. One of the most special parts for me was including a vow to my new daughter, promising to love and support her as her bonus mom.
We also included our daughter in a unity sand ceremony to symbolize the blending of our families and our commitment to this new chapter together. At the end of the ceremony, we honored the tradition of jumping the broom, recognizing its roots in the resilience of enslaved Africans who were denied the legal right to marry. For us, it symbolized honoring that legacy, leaving the past behind, and stepping into our future as one family.
Each of these personal touches made our ceremony deeply meaningful and unforgettable.
What was the best part about having a destination wedding?
The best part was getting to celebrate all weekend long with our family and friends. From pool parties and welcome drinks to late-night conversations around the fire pits and enjoying the resort's entertainment, every moment became part of the celebration. By the time our wedding day arrived, everyone had already connected, making the entire experience feel even more intimate, relaxed, and unforgettable.

Their communication was excellent, and whenever we had questions or concerns, the team responded quickly with clear answers and helpful guidance.
