How did you meet?
Justin sat next to me in class, on the very first day of college. We hit it off instantly. I was excited to have met a new college friend, however, Justin had full intentions to date me since day one. After several weeks of studying together/hanging out, Justin finally shared his feelings. I completely panicked and friend-zoned him. Less than a week later, I came to my senses and realized that we were much more than friends. We have been together for 11 years since then.
Why did you choose to have a destination wedding?
All of our family lives far away. A destination wedding allowed us to spend much more quality time with all of our loved ones. How often do you get to go on a vacation with all of your family and friends together? It seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime chance that we couldn’t pass up. All of us have to travel far, regardless, so we might as well travel to a tropical beach. A destination wedding also seemed very simple to plan. The resort did a lot of the legwork for me. I also didn’t feel the need to splurge on flowers and extra decor, since we were already getting married in paradise.
Why did you choose Dreams Playa Mujeres for your destination wedding?
This resort checked off everything on my checklist. It was not too big, so all of our guests were able to find each other easily. It was family friendly resort and super kid friendly. I also liked that it wasn’t a far drive from the Cancun airport, so it was a convenient spot for my guests to travel to.
What was your most memorable moment during your ceremony?
We read our vows out loud to all of our family and friends. It felt so special to share such an intimate moment with everyone. Once the ceremony finished, it was fun for all of us to gather and mingle on the beach before the reception started.
What was the best part about having a destination wedding?
I was able to have so much quality time with everyone. We had 90 of our closest friends and family in one place for several days. Since I had several days with everyone at the resort, I didn’t feel stressed to catch up with every single person on my wedding day only. I would not have been able to see my friends and family as much if we did a traditional wedding. The resort staff was also incredible! I didn’t feel not feel stressed about my big day because the resort staff took care of everything.
What was your experience working with Shoreline Destinations?
The team was very professional and responsive. They always answered all of my questions quickly. My guests also complimented the team. They said that they made booking very easy for them. Planning a destination wedding would’ve been way more stressful if I hadn’t worked with their team.
