How did you meet?
We met through a mutual friend! Chelsie was born and raised in Ohio, but moved to Indiana (where Keaton was born and raised) for graduate school in 2019. Our first date was at the local Irish pub, which we still go to frequently. A couple weeks later, the world shut down from COVID-19. We had to get creative with our date nights then! Our first international trip together was to Ireland in 2022 and where our love for travel really began!
Why did you choose to have a destination wedding?
There is a lot of stress that comes with wedding planning, however a destination wedding made the process much less stressful. We hated the idea of spending a lot of money for just one day of celebration with 100+ guests. With a destination wedding, we were able to spend seven days in paradise with about 50 of our loved ones! Absolutely no regrets!
Why did you choose Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres for your destination wedding?
When we chose Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres, the resort wasn't even open yet! The renderings were absolutely beautiful, and we loved the modern, boho vibe! Andrea spoke very highly of Secrets Resorts. We also liked the proximity, affordability, and ease of travel to and from the Cancun airport. We ended up visiting the resort about 6 months before our wedding, and I'm so glad we did! We got to meet with the wedding coordinator, do a tasting, and get a feel for the space we would be getting married in!
What was your most memorable moment during your ceremony?
Having a family member officiate our ceremony was amazing! He was able to put such a personal touch that I don't think our guests were expecting with a destination wedding. Having a small ceremony also made the process less nerve-wracking since we were surrounded by our closest friends and family!
What was the best part about having a destination wedding?
It was so much fun having our friends and family all in one place! We were able to relax by the pool with our family members in the morning, then play volleyball on the beach with our friends in the afternoon. We really got to soak in the time with our loved ones!
What was your experience working with Shoreline Destinations?
Shoreline Destinations was amazing to work with! We didn't have a specific destination in mind, and Andrea helped us narrow down our options according to our location and budget. Andrea helped to make our decisions much easier! She helped to bridge any communication gaps with the resort in terms of our hotel block, wedding contract, and travel. They were present through every aspect of the process! We look forward to using them in the future for other travels!
